Scott Knowlton

I’m Scott Knowlton. Owner, Flame artist, and editor at Clutch VFX.

I’ve had over 35 years experience in production and post-production.

After graduating from Castleton State College in Vermont, my career started at Killington Ski Resort where I interned at Killington TV. I worked my way from intern to eventually station manager before I decided to head to Boston.

My first gig in Boston was at Video Visuals, where I worked in production, post, and as technical director. I moved on to work as editor at Finish Editorial, then co-owner of Engine Room Edit/Brewhouse VFX and eventually Conductor Productions.

Through that time, I worked with most of the ad agencies in Boston, as well as other ad agencies all across the country. I have worked with many brands including TJX, Progressive, Bank of America, Toyota, Days Inn, Scottrade, Winter X-Games, Connecticut Lottery, Nutrisystem, Fanatics, Tufts Health Plan, Verizon, and many more.

In January, 2025, I decided go back to my beloved boutique style post house, so I started Clutch VFX.

Clutch VFX is based on my skills as both an editor and Flame Artist. I have over 28 years experience working with Autodesk Flame. Coupled with Flame, I have skills with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Sapphire, etc. I have worked on many national and regional campaigns handling offline editing through finishing and VFX work. I can handle any type of editorial job from full-blown production to stock footage/graphics to animatics.

When I am not taking care of business on your project, you can find me skiing with my family at Killington in the winter, riding my wakeboard or mountain bike in the summer, or working on my classic mahogany Chris Craft. I’ve also been known to throw back a Guinness or IPA from time to time.

Cheers !
